Jokowi also urged for the provision of quick service counters like those in banks.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued directions to all village and sub-district heads of Jakarta to provide better service to citizens.

"I, deliberately, gather all village and sub-district heads today in order to unify the vision of serving Jakarta's people better," Jokowi said in his greeting at the Jakarta City Hall on Thursday.

According to Jokowi, a start needs to be made by fixing and adding to existing facilities at village and sub-district offices.

"For example, there should be chairs and air conditioners (AC) in waiting rooms so that residents feel comfortable and are not fatigued while waiting for officers," he said.

In addition, Jokowi also urged for the provision of quick service counters like those in banks to work on citizens' requests.

"The present counters should be removed and replaced by front desks, like in banks. There should be desks, computers and chairs for citizens and officers," he said.

He explained that the front desk systems would be more flexible in allowing people in dealing and discussions with officers and would allow them to obtain information clearly and accurately.

Jokowi alerted all village and sub-district heads today of unannounced inspections (Sidak), like those conducted on Tuesday (Oct 23) in the Senen village, Cempaka Putih village and Cempaka Putih sub-district.

He said that he was surprised to find the door of the local office locked and the officials, including the village and sub-district heads, absent from work.
