"We urge consumers to pay attention to safety when filling fuel at the SPBU."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Pertamina has stated that one of the four dispenser blocks at a fuel-filling station (SPBU) in Pangeran Jayakarta Street, West Jakarta, caught fire.

Mundakir Ali, Vice President for Corporate Communications of Pertamina, on Thursday said the fire at the SPBU numbered 34.10702 damaged a motorcycle and a car.

"However, the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes through a fire extinguisher and with the help of four local firetrucks," he added.

As of now, all operations at SPBU have been suspended, while the police are investigating the cause of the incident.

As a result of the fire, Mundakir said, one person suffered burns and was rushed to the Police Hospital of Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

"By then, the victim had already received first-aid treatment at the nearest health centre (Puskesmas)," he added.

"There is enough fuel available at a nearby station in order to meet the needs of the community," Mundakir noted.

"We urge consumers to pay attention to safety when filling fuel at the SPBU," he said.

"To start with, make sure the vehicle's engine is off when you are refuelling, do not use a cell phone at the outlet, and do not smoke. These can endanger your life and the lives of others as well," Mundakir stated.
