Mecca, Saudi Arabia (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - A total of 3,161,573 Muslim pilgrims from around the world are performing this year`s Hajj in Mecca, the Saudi news agency said Friday.

Among all the pilgrims gathering in Mecca, 1,408,641 are from Saudi Arabia and 1,752,932 are from abroad, the Central Department of Statistics and Information said in a statement, adding that the vast majority of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia are expatriates.

The Islamic Bank of Development is expected a new record of livestock that will be sacrificed this year as part of Hajj rituals, the Chairman of the Bank Ahmed Mohammed Ali said, adding that the number of goats is expected to be more than last year`s record of 1.4 million.
