Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Regional Police will conduct a special program for 3,000 students of senior high schools (SMAs)/ vocational high schools (SMKs) in the State Police School (SPN) in Lido, Sukabumi in the West Java province.

"The first batch of SMK students will depart on November 6, 2012," Community Relations Director of Jakarta Police, Adjunct Commissioner Police (AKBP) Yossi Haryoso said here on Monday.

Further batches of students will attend special classes at the school through the month, which the police hope will be able to prevent recurrence of students' brawls in the future.

Haryoso said that the Jakarta Police is cooperating with the Education Department of Jakarta province to give special training and education to students to counter the growing instances of students' brawls.

Previously, the Jakarta Police had planned to shift the students involved in brawls to the SPN Lido.

The police are working in coordination with the SMA General Directorate of Education and the Culture Ministry to discuss the special program for students and to set the program structure, so that the special arrangement does not clash with the police's schedule.

The program has been funded by the Education and Culture Ministry.

Police officers are still in the process of recording the statements of students involved in the brawl in Jakarta Regional Police`s area, such as those from SMK Bhakti I East Jakarta and SMK 29 (Aviation School).

The Jakarta Police will discuss the course material with SPN Lido and the Education and Culture Ministry to maximise the impact of the message.(*)
