Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Police are urging residents to help protect empty homes and prevent brawls in their neighborhoods during the Eid holiday.

"Most of the residents are homecoming during the holiday and the police ask the local community to help secure empty houses," said Police Chief Commissioner Badya Wijaya, Jakarta Police's director of community development, on Thursday.

"The Jakarta Police carry out night patrols to keep Jakarta safe and conducive," he said.

Wijaya praised North Jakarta's Penjaringan Police for preparing an integrated post and thanked RW 011 neighborhood residents in the sub-district for consistently guarding the surroundings.

"I thank the local police chief for forming an integrated post that can secure the RW 011 neighborhood by confiscating some sharp weapons," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of RW 011, H. Tawar, said that his area remained conducive thanks to good cooperation with the police in patrolling the area.
