Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has said that firm actions have been taken against workers involved in anarchism during demonstrations.

He said when opening a High Level Conference on Indonesian Investment 2012 here on Tuesday that while labor demonstrations are allowed actions must be taken against anarchism.

"The law must be enforced against excesses such as intimidation," he said.

Workers have held demonstrations in various regions in the country recently to demand better pay and working conditions.

Boediono admitted that investors had been concerned over the demonstrations.

He said the government remained committed to keep improving investment conditions in the country by among others providing legal certainty and better infrastructure.

He said the government would also continue improving the welfare of workers which has also been the government`s priority.

"I could assure that the government remained fully committed to improving investment and business environment and for that effective communication is needed between businessmen and the government," he said.

The vice president said that Indonesia is still the right investment destination in view of its ability to overcome the 2008 crisis and maintain its economic growth.

He also said the country`s vast natural and human resources as well as political stability were also other factors making the country remain attractive for foreign investors.

Boediono said the government has continued and would continue improving the country`s capacity by developing its sea and airports, roads, railways, electricity plants, city facilities, renewable energy sources and gas infrastructure.(*)
