Mataram (ANTARA) - The Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) of the National Police (Polri) devised strategies dedicated to ensuring security during the 10th World Water Forum, scheduled for May 18-25 this year in Bali.

"As the head of Operation Puri Agung 2024, I have prepared detailed security strategies for supporting the activities of the 10th World Water Forum," Baharkam Head Commissioner General Fadil Imran remarked while inspecting Lembar Port in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday.

He noted that the police agency had been paying close attention to security measures applied at ports located around Bali, including Lembar Port.

"At Lembar Port, we have stationed personnel, including those from our animal police unit, to deal with any kind of security disruption," he stated.

The former chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police further remarked that his side had been applying a similar security strategy at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi District, East Java Province.

Imran revealed that Baharkam is also deploying officers to villages, as a strategy for ensuring that the international-level forum runs smoothly and is safe from disruptions.

He expressed optimism about the police being successful in executing Operation Puri Agung 2024, as all dispatched personnel are well-trained and wield special capabilities.

The commissioner general underlined that his side had been in coordination with other relevant institutions to make Indonesia a successful host for the forum.

He then appealed to the public to take part in supporting the holding of the triennial forum by reporting any potential for threats.

"We have been taking thorough preparatory measures for providing maximum security to all participants and visitors of the World Water Forum in Bali," he concluded.

The World Water Forum constitutes an international meeting that convenes a range of critical issues, such as water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy resilience, and natural disaster mitigation.

The first edition of the forum took place in Marrakech, Morocco, in 1997. During a session of the World Water Council in Senegal in 2022, Indonesia was appointed as host for the upcoming forum that will highlight "Water for Shared Prosperity" as its grand theme.

This year's World Water Forum is expected to result in a ministerial declaration that will pave the way for concrete projects, initiatives, and collaborative actions.

Around 50 thousand delegates from various countries are expected to take part in the forum.
