"The majority Asian markets gained boosted by positive sentiment from the US market," analyst Benedictus Agung said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose slightly 4.01 points to follow the trend in the regional markets with indexes moving in positive area.

The BEI index gained 0.09 percent to 4,352.81 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks rose 0.15 percent to 747.51 points.

"The majority Asian markets gained boosted by positive sentiment from the US market,"Samuel Sekuritas` analyst Benedictus Agung said here on Monday.

Benedictus said the US market rose 3.6 percent on the average last week on fiscal cliff compromise from the US government.

He predicted banking shares will strengthen today after socialization of a number of regulation removing uncertainties on banking outlook .

Crude palm oil shares , however, are expected to be under pressure following the fall of the CPO price last week, hes aid.

Panin Sekuritas` analyst Purwoko Sartono said BEI index gained on positive sentiment from regional markets which are boosted by China`s improved manufacturing data giving positive signal for the world`s second largest economy.

"Macro data from China and the United States, the world largest economy are quite encouraging offsetting fear of investors over fiscal cliff," hes aid.

He predicted the BEI index would move around 4,325-4,370 points.

Regional markets including posted a 0.03 percent decline in index to 21,907.99, with Nikkei-225 index up 0.75 percent to 9,436.60, and Straits Times index strengthening 0.37 percent to 3,000.38 points. (*)
