Rupiah traded at 9,628 against the US dollar losing 33 points from 9,595 in inter bank transaction here on Friday morning.
Money market observer Reza Priyambada from Trust Securities said market players were not very aggressive in doing transactions.
"They choose to wait what would come out from the effort in handling the US fiscal cliff," Reza said.
Retail sales slump in Japan, South Korea`s manufacture decline and failure to cut unemployment in Germany also added to pressure keeping rupiah from rising , he said.
Monex Investindo Futures` chief researcher Ariston Tjendra said investors were careful not to buy risky currencies on warnings from a number of analysts.
"Risky currencies are sensitive to economic data and worries about Greece`s ability to implement the plan to buy back its debts," he said.(*)
