"We will close the roads from 8 pm West Indonesia Time (WIB) until 2 am the next day. A total of seven kilometres of roads will be blocked during the New Year`s Eve celebrations," said Panto Griyanto, a spokesman from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police`s Traffic Unit, here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo stated that the "Car Free Night" rule would be in effect on the evening of December 31 in order to prevent the possibility of traffic jams during New Year`s Eve celebrations.
