Jakarta, Jan 4 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) started trading this morning with share price index extending gain boosted by US fiscal cliff agreement.

The BEI index rose 0.17 percent to 4,406.93 points with 45 most liquid stocks following with a gain of 0.26 percent to 755.10 points.

Panin Sekuritas` analyst Purwoko Sartono predicted share markets would continue to rise yet after an agreement was reached to deal with fiscal cliff.

The BEI index, however, is expected to rise slightly this week as some major shares are already overbought, he said.

"The BEI index is predicted to hover around 4,365-4,420 points," he said.

Regional markets Hang Seng recorded a 0.45 percent decline in its index to 23,293.97 points with Nikkei-225 index rising 2.51 percent to 10,656.05 points and Straits Times down 0.03 percent to 3,223.83 points. (*)
