Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale jolted western coast of Sumatra on Thursday at 04.04 am f local time.

According to Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was located on 0.58 degree of Northern Latitude - 92.05 degree of Western Longitude, or 503km southwest of Simeulue, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam; or 590km southwest of Nias Barat, North Sumatra; or 657km southwest of Banda Aceh; or 1.800km southwest of Jakarta, at the depth of 10km.

However, the earthquake has no tsunami potential.(*)
