"Convicted corrupters will remain facing the punishment indiscriminately."
Monrovia (ANTARA News) - Corruption eradication in Indonesia is not because of an instruction by the world, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here on Saturday.

"Corruption eradication efforts and good governance are on top of our agenda and this is not because of an instruction by the world," the head of state told the newsmen before leaving Monrovia for Nigeria.

Yudhoyono stated that corruption eradication efforts were the priority of his government.

"Convicted corrupters will remain facing the punishment indiscriminately," the president said, referring to the Monrovia Communique about fighting against corruption as part of worldwide poverty alleviation.

The president added that corruption was happening not only in the developing world, but also in the developed world where multinational companies which engaged in corruption and bribery got the heaviest possible sanction.

"There are countries where corrupters escape and money laundering takes place. Therefore there must be a United Nations cooperation to fight against such a crime," the president noted.

According to him, it took a lot of time to make a system to reach a good governance.

"We still have a long way to go. But God`s willing we can realize a good governance, and alleviate poverty in our country," the president noted.
