Bekasi (ANTARA News) - Police`s chief detective Comr. Gen. Sutarman said three suspected terrorists were killed and four other were arrested when police raided their hiding places in the Greater Jakarta area on Thursday and Friday.

The raids took place in different locations by police`s anti terrorist squad in Jakarta, Bekasi and Tangerang, Sutarman said.

Police were forced to shoot and kill three of the suspects as they resisted arrest, he said here on Friday.

Three of the suspects were arrested in Bekasi including Arman and Siswanto in Mustikajaya and one identified as K in Pekayon, southern Bekasi.

Sutarman said the suspects were known to have committed robberies to finance their operations in Indonesia.

"We found a kilogram of gold believed to have been stolen recently from its owner in Tambora in West Jakarta," he said.

Police also found explosives and four firearms in one of their hiding place , he added.

The suspects were believed to be members of an international terrorist organization , but apparently they no longer had financial support from the organization, he said.(*)
