"Oil and gas contributed only US$22.69 million..."Semarang (ANTARA News) - Central Java`s exports fell 5.65 percent to US$411.18 million in January this year from US$435.79 million in December, 2012.
The largest country of destination for Central Java`s exports was the United States to which exports totaled US$99.92 million in January, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
China was the second largest market accounting for US$37.82 million of the total exports, Head of the Central Java office of BPS Jam Jam Zamachsyari said .
Japan followed accounting for US$34.37 million, Jama Jam said here on Monday.
Three main export earners for Central Java are textiles and textile products contributing US$166.17 million to the total exports in January, timber and timber products contributing US$62.98 million and manufactured products accounting for US$56.1 million.
"Oil and gas contributed only US$22.69 million to the total export earning of the province, as against non-oil/gas commodity exports of US$388.49 million," Jam Jam said.
Meanwhile, imports in January were valued at US$1,301.76 million or an increase of 10.93 percent from US$1,173.53 million in December, 2012.
Imports came mainly from Saudi Arabia valued at US$425 million, China US$161.97 million and Singapore US$154.71 million . The three countries accounted for nearly 60 percent of Central Java`s total imports .
Oil and gas contributed US$881.32 million to the total imports or up 53.26 percent from December 2012. Imports of commodities other than oil and gas were valued at US$420.44 million or down 29.75 percent from imports in December , 2012.
Major import commodities other than oil and gas included minerals valued at US$884.28 million and textiles and textile products valued at US$95.88 million.
