The two volunteers of the National Committee for Palestinian People (KNRP) chapter in Aceh province left for Gaza via Soekarno-Hatta airport in Jakarta at 07.00 a.m. on Monday, spokesman of the KNRP chapter Mulyadi Nurdin said.
He said the two volunteers, Tgk Makhyaruddin Yusuf and Khairul Amal, joined other members of the committee from Jakarta to carry humanitarian aid from the Indonesian people for the Palestinian people, he said.
The 25-member mission will go to Dubai by direct flight for eight hours. From Dubai they will proceed their trip to Egypt after three hours of stopover, he said.
They will travel to Palestine by land via Rafah borders, he said.
The two Aceh volunteers carried humanitarian aid worth Rp823 million raised from the people of Aceh province which has a population of around 5 million, he said.
Earlier, in November 2012, the KNRP chapter in Aceh also sent aid worth Rp1.16 billion for Palestinian people. The aid was received by Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh.
In total, the aid sent to Gaza was valued at Rp5 billion, chief of the KNRP chapter in Aceh Tgk Makhyaruddin Yusuf said.
"KNRP also has bought two ambulances in Cairo for the Gaza people," he said.
