"This cooperation between BKPM and BNI is expected to be able to facilitate Japanese businessmen..."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) have agreed to launch joint investment promotion particularly in encouraging Japanese investors to relocate their businesses to Indonesia.
"This cooperation between BKPM and BNI is expected to be able to facilitate Japanese businessmen wishing to invest in Indonesia and serve Japanese businessmen intending to relocate their businesses to the country," BKPM chief Chatib Basri said in a press conference here on Tuesday.
Both sides have agreed to cooperate in carrying out joint promotion and benefiting from banking products and services related to foreign investment, he said.
In the first phase of the cooperation, both sides will organize joint investment promotion to attract Japanese investment to Indonesia, he said.
"Under this cooperation agreement between BKPM and BNI, we aim to build strategic partnership between the two institutions in promoting investment in Indonesia. This is in line with the focus of our activities to help increase economic growth," he said.
BNI President Director Gatot M. Suwondo meanwhile said the cooperation agreement may lay a basis for the formation of strategic alliance to encourage Japanese companies to relocate their businesses to Indonesia.
"The relocation of Japanese businesses to Indonesia will help the government create more jobs," he said.
