It is not significance saving for our national budget.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government should have implemented single price system in the fuel price hike instead of dual price system which is risky, Wijayanto, the observer from University of Paramadina said through his e-mail to ANTARA News on Thursday.

Previously, the government has planned in lifting the subsidized fuel price but separate to private cars from Rp4,500 to Rp6,500-Rp7,000 (rise about 30 percent) while for motorcycle and public transportations is still on Rp4,500.

"I have different opinion about the government plan of raising fuel price due to the risk on the implementation. It is prefer government implement the single price to dual prize system. But the percentage should be in lower range or 20-25 percent from previous price," he said.

In addition, the risk of dual price system is distribution abuses of subsidized fuel and nonsubsidized fuel which could occur in anytime and everywhere.

Wijayanto has expected the government to ensure the implementation of fuel price hike couldn`t make new problems.

"Besides government`s effort to stabilize the fuel price, they need to ensure the new policy not to trigger another chaos. Government also should keep it in right track so that no manipulation such as wrong target of subsidized fuel."

He urged the fuel price hike to be implemented as soon to save the national budget.

"If the policy to be imposed in July, it is only save about 12.5 percent total of subsidized budget (Rp200 billion). It is not significance saving for our national budget," he said.
