Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The United Development Party (PPP) has opened its first overseas branch office in Malaysia, PPP said in a press statement received here on Friday.

The opening of the overseas branch was marked on Thursday with the inauguration of its branch executives at the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

"The opening of the branch office and the inauguration of its executives are based on PPP`s principles of struggle for finding solutions to the nation, including the problem of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia," PPP General Chairman Suryadharma Ali said in his written address read out by Suharso, a PPP deputy chairman, to the function.

In the meantime, chief organizer of the inauguration M Ridho Kamaludin said the opening of the branch office was also intended to maintain PPP`s constituents overseas.

Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Herman Prayitno in his address said that the inauguration of PPP branch executives in Kuala Lumpur constituted a first step to cooperating with Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.

He said that there were about 1.2 million Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.
