The district administration of Tanjung Jabung Timur sealed the wella as the company did not bother to seek the permit, Regent Zumi Zola said .
"We are set to enforce the regulation. We have reminded them about the permit , but they refused to hear," Zumi said here on Monday.
Last week the Tanjung Jabung Timur district administration sealed tens of oil exploration wells of PetroChina in two sub-district in the regency.
The company has hundreds of oil/gas wells of PetroChina, but 12 of them have been without location permit for more than 10 years, Aripuddin, another official of the district administration, said.
Zumi Zola reminded the company of its commitment about social responsibility (CSR) especially preservation of the environment.
Zumi Zola said regretted with the failure of PetroChina in meeting its commitment about social responsibility since 2012.
He cited PT PetroChina has promised to build and drill wells for clean water supply in the area of its operation, but the promised has not come to reality after so long.
"We no longer want to hear more promises . The sealing of a number of wells is only a warning," he said.
The regent has ordered for the re-evaluation of the location permit for all wells owned by the company.(*)
