Jambi (ANTARA) - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) and Chinese oil and gas company PetroChina International Jabung Ltd distributed Hajj equipment to pilgrims in West Tanjung Jabung district, Jambi.

The quantum of aid disbursed this year was larger compared to last year, the field manager of SKK Migas - PetroChina International Jabung Ltd, Rudy Hermawan, said in Jambi on Saturday.

The equipment aid consisted of 150 pieces of automatic folding umbrellas, 150 pieces of transparent bento food boxes, 150 pairs of nylon folding sandals, 433 sandal/shoe bags, and 433 bottles of 300 ml-hand mist spray.

The equipment is expected to meet the needs of the pilgrims during their activities in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The equipment was distributed to at least 395 people from two groups of pilgrims from West Tanjung Jabung district.

"Hopefully, the equipment we distributed will provide benefits to Hajj pilgrims, added to the fact that the current weather there (in Saudi Arabia) is very hot. Thus, the equipment will be useful," Hermawan said.

He further said he expects Hajj pilgrims not to value the equipment by their material value, but by their usefulness as tools for supporting pilgrimage activities.

"We partake in succeeding Hajj pilgrimage activities, especially by providing support for this district's Hajj pilgrims," he added.

Hermawan also asked the pilgrims to maximize their time in the Holy Land since they have been awaiting the rare opportunity for a long time.

The aid distribution ceremony was attended by West Tanjung Jabbar district head Anwar Sadat, regional secretary Agus Sanusi, the speaker of the district's Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), Abdullah, and representatives of the local military district command and Regional Leadership Communication Forum.

A number of representatives of the equipment aid providers also attended the ceremony.
