Giving the speech, the minister reaffirmed the contribution of the mangrove that serves to prevent and to splinter the tsunami wave and the beach abration and to provide the habitat for marine biota. In addition, economically, its fruit can be processed to be syrup and food; its wood can be processed into firewood, building material and charcoal. While the branch and the leaf can be the dye raw materials of batik. Ultimately, the mangrove forest has a great potency to be a distinguished natural tourism object if it's well developped.
In the event, the Minister of Environment, Balthasar Kambuaya, handed over a number of garbage enumerators to the Ngurah Rai Forest Park Operating Manager, Ir. Irwan Abdullah, M.Si. In addition, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Syarif J. Sutardjo, handed over the mangrove fruit processing tools to five Mangrove Care Institutions (MCI): MCI Jimbaran, MCI Tuban, MCI Tanjung Benoa, MCI Kedonganan, dan MCI Benoa. The Coordinating Minister for Economy, Hatta Radjasa, symbolically handed over the mangrove tree seeds to those MCIs.
In his brief speech, the President Yudhoyono urged for all of the community elements to jointly take care of the all kinds of forest, including the mangrove, to make the world a better place. He personally appreciated the spirit of the Balinese community to plant, maintain and make the Bali Province green.
In the last segment of the event, the President, the First Lady, Minister of Forestry and Cristiano Ronaldo jointly planted the mangrove trees.
