Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Thursday morning received a telephone call from and communicate with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd regarding cooperation on trans-boundary human crime, particularly in the handling of human smuggling.

Teuku Faizasyah, the special presidential staff for international relations, said in a press statement that the president received the telephone call from Kavin Rudd on Thursday morning.

"In the telephone conversation, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the handling of trans-boundary crime, particularly human smuggling," he said.

He said the president underlined that human smuggling was a problem which involved not only the interest of both countries but also the interest of others in the region.

"It was also said that both countries had already had good cooperation in the handling of this matter. On the bilateral basis, the cooperation is done by both countries` legal enforcers and on the regional basis, it was done through the Bali Process," he said.
