"He (Muhammad Nazaruddin) is questioned on the case of suspect Anas," Priharsa Nugraha, the head of KPK`s publication and information section, said here on Monday.
Nazaruddin is a former treasurer of the ruling Democratic Party (PD) while Anas is the party`s former general chairman.
Nazaruddin is is now in jail at Bandung`s Sukamiskin Penitentiary for a corruption case in the construction of a SEA Games venue in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Anas has earlier been scheduled for questioning as a suspect by the KPK on July 31, 2013 but he did not comply with the summons saying he had another schedule.
In the alleged corruption of the Hambalang sports complex development, Anas was named a suspect on February 22, 2013 on charges of violating Article 12, Letter A or Letter B, or Article 11 Law No. 31/1999 as already amended by Law No. 20 / 2001 on state apparatuses who took bribes, or gratifications. This case is publishable by a life sentence or a jail term of 4. 20 years and a fine of Rp200 million - Rp1 billion.
Anas was among others charged as having received a Toyota Harrier which had been on the status of confiscation by the KPK since March 2013, thought the car was still entrusted to its latest owner.
Nazaruddin has said that he bought Toyota Harrier for Anas using a check from PT Permai amounting to Rp520 million and a cash of Rp150 million in November 2009.
KPK Chairman Abraham Samad said the detention and examination of Hambalang suspects were carried based on the dates of their naming as suspects.
In the Hambalang alleged corruption case, the KPK has named three suspects, namely former sports and youth affairs minister Andi Mallarangeng in his capacity as user of the funds, former planning bureau chief of the ministry of youth and sports affairs Deddy Kusdinar in his capacity as the planning officer when the Hambalang project was implemented and former former operations director 1 of PT Adhi Karya, Teuku Bagus Mukhamad Noor.(*)
