General Moeldoko replaced Admiral Agus Suhartono, who is on the verge of retirement.
He underlined the importance of economic management in the midst of the current economic uncertainty and challenges, which must be dealt with an alert mind and appropriate policies.
With regard to TNI`s role, he assured the public that TNI would live up to its strategic plan mandated by the former commander.
"TNI will live up to the strategic plan and act effectively and professionally," he said.
With regard to international relations, the new commander emphasized the importance of cooperation. However, he said national interests are of utmost importance to TNI.(*)
