All preparations have been made. Land has been cleared and machines will be imported from Germany, Fajar Group founder Alwi Hamu said here on Sunday.
"We hope ground breaking ceremony would take place to start construction after the elections," Alwi said. The country will hold legislative election in April next year to be followed with presidential election.
He said the Rp7 trillion investment will include Rp5 trillion for the cement factory construction , Rp1 trillion for road construction and Rp1 trillion for port and ship dockyard.
"The factory, which will have an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons per day, will be built in cooperation with a Taiwanese partner that will have the majority stake of 80 percent." he said.
The cement production is mainly for domestic consumption as domestic supply still 20 million tons falls short of requirement, he added.
"Exports would be made at least to East Timor, which is now launching large scale development," he said.
He predicted cement requirement in Indonesia will increase in the coming years because of large scale development of infrastructure projects in the country.
Barru, which is located far away from the Bosowa cement port, has large deposit of cement raw material in its mountain area.
Fajar Group is known to be a big mass media company , having 19 printed, electronic and television mass media units , also having university , hotels, travel agencies, printing companies , and a number of other business units.
