Witnesses said the bus was zigzagging hitting the bridge railing before plunging to the Wonoboyo river 10 meter below in the Bergas area of Ungaran early morning at 0.2.30 local time.
The three killed were the driver Hadi Purwanto (50), a woman passenger and a baby with tens other injured now being treated at a local hospital.
A survivor Asep said he heard the driver to cry out as apparently he could not control the bus .
It was rain that many of the passengers were asleep, Asep said, adding the driver might have been sleepy too as the bus was zigzagging in the dark of that night before it hit the railing and plunged into the river. (AS).(*)
