Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State Audit Board (BPK) has set the target for the preliminary investigation of Vietnam rice import to be completed by early March 2014.

"BPK has two weeks for the preliminary investigations," member of BPK Ali Masykur Musa stated in Bandung on Sunday, as quoted by Kompas on Monday.

Ali explained that the preliminary investigation was just to know about the legality of the import of rice, the payment of import duty and which authority had the responsibility over import of rice.

Previously, rice traders in the main rice market of Cipinang informed the Coordinator Minister of Economics Hatta Rajasa that the Vietnam rice arrived on the third week of January.

Directorate General of Custom of Finance Ministry stated that the rice from Vietnam was permitted by Trade Ministry. But the Vice Minister of Trade Bayu Krisnamurthi has denied it. (*)
