This way, it is totally up to Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri to decide."
Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) denied a media report on Tuesday which indicated that the party chief Megawati Soekarnoputri has named its presidential candidate for the 2014 election.

"A news report today stating that PDIP Chief Ibu (Mrs) Megawati Soekarnoputri has named the partys presidential candidate, is totally wrong," PDIP Secretary General Tjahjo Kumolo asserted.

Tjahjo, who is also a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission for defense, information and foreign affairs, stated that PDIP sticks to the decisions taken during its third congress and first and third national meetings that the party will announce its presidential candidate and running mate at the right moment.

The party is considering a number of aspects related to the global political condition, future leadership challenges, and national political dynamics as stated by party chief Megawati, who has been given a mandate by the congress and national meetings, he added.

"This way, it is totally up to Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri to decide. In this regard, she still has to prepare a number of reports to manage national and international political developments," he explained.

A media report stated earlier that PDIP has picked Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo as its presidential candidate.

Indonesia will hold presidential election after legislative election on April 9 this year.
