Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former Bank Indonesia (BI) Deputy Governor Budi Mulia has been indicted of corruption along with former central bank governor Boediono and other officials in connection with the Century Bank bailout case.

"The defendant as BI Deputy Governor has committed corruption according to the articles imposed on him along with Boediono as BI Governor, Miranda S Goeltom as senior BI Deputy Governor, Siti C Fadjriah as 6th Deputy Governor and the late Budi Rochadi as 7th Deputy Governor as well as Robert Tantular and Harmanus H Muslim in connection with the extension of short-term lending facility (FPJP)," Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto stated here on Thursday.

Due to their actions with regard to FPJP the state has suffered a loss of around Rp689 billion.

"The defendant together with Muliaman D Hadad as BI 5th Deputy Governor, Hartadi A Sarwono as 3rd BI Deputy Governor, Ardhayadi M as 8th BI Deputy Governor and Raden Pardede as the secretary of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) has also committed corruption with regard to the process of deciding the Century Bank as a failed bank with a systemic effect," Bambang explained.

Due to their action, the state suffered a loss of up to Rp6.782 trillion, he added.

"KPK hopes that people will monitor the trial process of the case closely so that they follow it well and be assured that it has been done objectively. (KPK) also calls for prevention of statements that could disrupt the trial process," he remarked.

Bambang thanked all the support and trust that has been given to KPK in dealing with the case.

"KPK is aware that a lot of parties including parliament members have been trying to politicize KPK in connection with the case with slanders and accusations with an aim to destroy KPKs legitimacy and credibility, the motive of which, is certainly not for corruption eradication," he pointed out.

Bambang added that KPK was able to conclude the case proceeds in one year and three months, after investigation began on December 17, 2012.

"The indictment was reported in a 180-page document and the names of 130 witnesses have been compiled in the dossiers," he clarified.

Budi Mulia, who was brought to the corruption court on Thursday, was charged of violating several articles in the corruption law and the Criminal Act.

The articles, among others, state abuse of power, authorities and facilities embedded in ones position that cause financial and economic losses to the state.

If convicted, Budi Mulia could be sentenced up to 20 years in jail, with a maximum fine of Rp1 billion.
