The victory ended Indonesias 10-year title drought in the mens doubles event, having won it in 2003 through the pair of Candra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto.
The win also gave Hendra and Ahsan the predicate of world champion, the worlds first-seed and winner of the worlds oldest tournament.
In the finals, the Indonesian pair beat the Japanese duo Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa who are the worlds number two pair in 21-19 and 21-19.
Hendra and Ahsan moved to the finals after they easily defeated their compatriots Markis Kido/Marcus Fernanldi Gideon with a score of 21-7 and 21-12.
In the quarterfinals, the Indonesian duo edged out the Chinese pair Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan in straight sets 23-21 and 22-20.
Hendra and Ahsan beat the Russian pair Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov in straight sets 21-14 and 21-18 in the first round.
In the second round, the worlds first seed had to work hard to edge out host duo Chris Langridge/Peter Mills in a rubber game 8-21, 21-17 and 21-14.
