Schools can evaluate and conduct the test autonomously."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chairman of Muhammadiyah Youth Central Leadership (Pimpinan Pusat Pemuda Muhammadiyah) Saleh Partaonan Daulay said the government had to find other options to determine a students graduation instead of the national examination (UN).
"In my opinion, schools can assess students graduation. Schools can evaluate and conduct the test autonomously," Daulay said on Monday.
If a school has the authority, then students graduation can not only be determined by their marks, but also by assessing their character and morality.
According to Daulay, the questions in the national examination cannot determine students emotional and spiritual intelligence, it can only assess students intellectual intelligence.
"A good evaluation had to be holistic and include students character, skills, talent and their ability to adapt to the environment and society. That can only be done by the school," he said.
Daulay added that the national examination also generalized the standard of education between city and countryside. The education facility and management in remote areas were far behind other areas.
"Students in remote areas had insights and perspectives that were different from those who lived in the city, and this had been proved," he said.
According to him, the national examination was considered as useless and not educative, since the cost incurred did not comply with the implementation and the magnitude of cheating.
" It was common knowledge that schools always helped students to cheat so that they could pass the exam, because it was associated with the schools good name," he said.
