I hope that the Capital Market Awards will be an inspiration for the Indonesian stock market..."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Stocks Exchange (BEI) expected the Capital Market Awards (CMA) to encourage the companies to continuously operate within the tenets of the Good Corporate Governance (GCG).

"The event of Capital Market Awards 2014 is expected to inspire every listed company to compete through a continuous performance growth in the market integration era," BEIs General Director Ito Warsito said in his opening remarks at the CMA 2014 held in Jakarta on the night of May 13.

Ito added that by improving the corporate performance through the GCG, every listed company will also contribute to an increase in the stock growth in Indonesia, thus the CMA 2012 was also awarded to appreciate the market businessmen, especially the stocks markets members and the listed companies.

"In addition to being an award, the CMA is also expected to increase the attractiveness of Indonesian stock market on the global economy, so that it can compete with other companies, especially in the Southeast Asian region," he noted.

According to the Chairman of Financial Authority Services (OJK), Muliaman Hadad, investors were still positive about the Indonesian stock markets performance, despite Indonesias sluggish economic growth.

"Our foremost economic challenge is related to Indonesias trade balance deficit, but I think the investors still harbor positive sentiment towards our stocks market," Muliaman said.

Muliamans statement was based on the penetration of the stocks market in Indonesia that is still high. Many domestic companies have the potential to be listed and the number could be almost 10,000 companies.

While from the viewpoint of investors, Muliaman said it still has the potential to increase as the number of investors in the stocks market is just 480,000 as of now.

"I hope that the Capital Market Awards will be an inspiration for the Indonesian stock market to keep moving forward," he noted.

The CMA 2014 had a theme of "Sustainable Growth Towards a Market Integration," before the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015 and followed by the Stock Market Integration in the ASEAN.

The awards categories of the best stock issuer with a market capital of more than Rp10 trillion was achieved by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk and the best stock issuer with a market capital of up to Rp10 trillion was awarded to PT Arwana Citramulia Tbk.
