The people should pay attention to this."
Medan (ANTARA News) - North Sumatras Indonesian Consumers Institute Foundation (YLK) called on consumers to be careful in buying Cadbury Dairy Milk because it has no halal (edible based on Islamic law) certification from the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI).

"Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates, particularly Cadbury Hazelmut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond are found to have contained swine DNA," Chairman of YLKI for North Sumatra Abubakar Siddik said here on Sunday.

He said that consumers who wanted to buy chocolate should be careful so that they would not purchase not halal products.

"The people should pay attention to this. It should not happen they are cheated and consumed products without any halal or not halal labels," he said.

He said that Malaysias Food Quality and Safety Agency had conducted a research on the samples of the two kinds of Cadbury chocolate products and detected that they contained swine DNA.

Abubakar said that the Indonesian government should also conduct a research to assure whether or not the two types of products circulating in Indonesia contained swine DNA.
