"If any party still wants to file a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court, it means we have not had a definitively elected president, Chairul Tanjung said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief economic minister Chairul Tanjung said here on Wednesday that markets players were awaiting the definitive results of the presidential election, despite KPUs official announcement on Tuesday evening.

"If any party still wants to file a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court, it means we have not had a definitively elected president. But so long as all the moves are done according to the constitution and laws, the market will appreciate them," he said.

The KPU announced on Tuesday evening that the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair was the winner of the election.

Before the announcement, however, their rival, the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa duo, declared their rejection to the implementation of the election and withdrew from the remainder of the election process.

Chairul said market players would only be worried if the election was conducted contrary to the established procedures to create dissatisfaction from one of the candidates and political instability.

"The market is afraid of unconstitutional moves which run in opposition to the constitution and the laws. If the moves are taken according to the constitution, the market will understand them and respond well," he said.

If no lawsuit is filed at the Constitutional Court, he said, conditions would be more conducive as the president-elect could focus on preparing himself for the inauguration in October.

"If no lawsuit is filed, there will be more certainty. The winning team could prepare themselves and the president and vice presidential-elect would have time to prepare actions to take after their inauguration," he said.

Finance Minister Chatib Basri, meanwhile, had expressed hope that the transition to the new government would be smooth so that efforts to improve the countrys economic fundamentals could be carried out without domestic pressure.

Chatib added that the government was ready to conduct discussions with the winning team to assure a smooth transition, especially with regard to the discussion of the 2015 budget.

He said, however, this could only be done if no lawsuit was filed at the Constitutional Court (MK).

"If there is a process at MK we must wait. That is the dilemma," he said.(*)
