Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index closed 0.37 percent higher on Friday extending gain on positive regional sentiments.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 19.44 points to 5,227.58 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks gaining 0.44 percent to 890.65 points.

"The JCI rose to follow the regional trend with Asian markets recording gain," an analyst from the Association of Indonesian Securities Companies (AAEI), Reza Priyambada said.

Reza said foreign investors again took a buying position adding to the positive sentiment especially as the Fed still maintains low interest rate.

BEI data showed foreign net buy reaching Rp282.238 billion.

HD Capitals analyst Yuganur Wijanarko predicted the JCI would climb higher still despite rupiah weakening as a result of continued deficit in the state budget.

Trade on Friday was marked with 205,840 transactions and 4.10 billion shares valued at Rp6.11 trillion changing hands.

Gainers outnumbered decliners by 181 to 138 shares with 94 shares remaining flat.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng, Nikkei and Straits Times recorded an increase in index.(*)
