Bandung (ANTARA News) - A delegation from Hamamatsu city, Japan, is visiting Bandung, West Java, to explore the possibilities for a joint effort in developing the creative city and the urban society initiatives, Director of Bandung Creative City Forum (BCCF) Fiki Satari said here on Wednesday.

He added that the delegation had met the Bandung Creative City Forum activists and other Bandung communities .

"The Hamamatsu delegation visit follows the Bandung team's visit several months ago. They are really interested in Bandungs creative city project, including the one facing environmental issues," Fiki said.

The delegation was led by Tadashi Matsunaga, who is also the Director of Hamamatsu citys Planning and Cooperation Department.

The delegation will be in Bandung for four days to conduct some meetings, including one with the Bandung Mayor, Ridwan Kamil.

The delegations agenda also include following up and jointly implementing the waste and clean water management projects and other related facilities.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the BCCF and Indonesian Association of Japan Alumni (Persada) of West Java for a collaboration in community-scale programs. This is an initiative to get the people and the communities to actively participate in developing Bandung.

The Japanese delegation visited several spots in Bandung that have been developed under the creative city concept by the communities, people and the city administration.

Meanwhile, Head of Spatial and Infrastructure Development Planning Board of Bandung Anton Sunarwibowo said that the Japanese delegation expressed their commitment to cooperate with the Bandung city administration.

"They have prepared the cooperation points similar to the one we had presented during our visit to Hamamatsu city last time. They are interested in environment, waste management and environment-based community empowerment cooperation," Anton said.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Japan Alumni of West Java Agus Suherman Suryadimulya said the cooperation with the Japanese city administrations have wide possibilities and should be followed up.

"They are actually waiting for the proposal. They have projects that can be implemented along with grants. We hope the cooperation between Bandung and Hamamatsu cities would be optimal," Agus said.
