The incident occurred on the Surabaya-Jakarta bus route in the Losarang Sub-district, Indramayu District, at 7:00 a.m. local time, Martinus Sitompul, the head of West Java Polices Information Division, stated here on Friday.
The dead victims along with the bus driver Antono Hadi and the severely injured passengers of the ill-fated bus were brought to the Bhayangkara Indramayu Hospital, Martinus noted.
According to him, the accident occurred when the bus driver used the left lane to overtake a car in front of it.
The bus suddenly swerved to the left and went off the road. It then rammed into the courtyard homes, leaving two passengers dead, in addition to injuring 15 others.
Martinus further added that the police are investigating the cause of the accident.(*)
