- CEO of PT RRC: Ecosystem restoration is in line with our vision and mission
- Pioneering the Ecosystem Restoration by implementing the REDD+ (Reducing Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) program
Jakarta, Dec. 31, 2014 (Antara) -- At the time when the condition of Indonesian forest hits the alerting level caused by the overexploitation committed in the name of business, PT Rimba Raya Conservation (PT RRC) is dedicated themselves in the Ecosystem Restoration sector to be the pioneer recovering the ecological balance of the commercially-exploited Indonesian forest.
Motivated by the high number of the deforestation and forest exploitation in Indonesia, PT RRC, led by Rusmin Widjaja - the commissioner, and Djonni Andhella - the CEO, is focused on the Ecosystem Restoration.
"I am obsessed to rejuvenating and reforesting the forest in our home land. By doing so, there will be more high-quality oxygen supplied from our forest, which means enhancing our quality of life," said the Singapore-based entrepreneur.
Furthermore, bringing such a thing to life means the company gives a significant contribution in addressing the impacts of the climate change, which has currently been one of the biggest global issues.
"Since we can never stop the commercially-intended tree logging, for the sake of the forest ecological balance, PT RRC has been paving the way to balance and recover the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable forest," conveyed the Representative of Chamber of Commerce of West Java in Singapore.
The REDD+ program implemented by PT RRC not only specifically aim to enhance the forest ecosystem, but also to increase the welfare of the local community living around the work area of PT RRC, as well as educating and raising awareness of the community that we have to use the forest wisely and conserve it so that it can still be relished by our descendants in the future.
"Sometimes, to implement the ecosystem restoration, we often have a conflict of interest with the palm oil companies as they have to clear the land to establish the palm oil fields, canal, and road access. However, in other hand, this becomes a challenging situation for us to create the counterweight programme," said the Commissioner.
As a significant follow-up on the issue, PT RRC successfully developed the Gold Palm Oil program, where every tree logged has to be compensated with a tree planting and the involvement of the palm oil companies in REDDS+'s Community Development programs.
"The ecosystem restoration business, somehow, not only provide sustainable and significant benefits to the environment, but also added value to the local communities," said the CEO of PT RRC, Djonni Andhella.
The Chairman of the Chinese-Indonesian Entrepreneur Association continued that PT RRC is dedicated to achieving the forest conservation in Indonesia, which is in line with the company's vision: "To safeguard and to externalize the sustainable and maximally-functioned forest as the mitigation to the climate change, and to materialize the beneficial ecological balance for the biodiversity and the community welfare." With the mission: "To safeguard, protect, and develop a forest to be the lungs of the world by planting the trees and peat lands as the carbon absorption and restoration center as well as externalizing the forest ecological balance to achieve a better source of life, both for the environment and for human."
