He stated that the preparations were still ongoing with regard to the tender, including its rules.
"We are still preparing everything, including the procedures at Pertamina. Hopefully, it can be started this month," he remarked while assuring the transparency and integrity of the import process.
In line with the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Management Reform Team, he noted that the ISC has offered an opportunity to all parties, including credible traders, to participate in the tender.
"If suppliers can directly supply, then why should we use a broker? This will certainly reduce supply chains and increase efficiency," he noted.
He remarked that the tender participants will be thoroughly screened by the ISC to ensure their credibility and integrity as well as to ascertain whether they have the required financial capacity.
"The management will be improved, so that rent seekers may not take part," he added.
The Oil and Gas Management Reform Team of the ministry of energy and marine resources has recommended referring the tender for crude and fuel oil imports from Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) to ISC Pertamina.
As of now, Petral imports 8 million to 10 million barrels of fuel oil a month and 10 million barrels of crude a month for Pertamina.
In the meantime, the team has recommended maintaining Petrals headquarters in Singapore and transforming it into a trading company and maximizing its market intelligence role.
