Jakarta (ANTARA News) - General Chairman of the Golkar Party (Jakarta Congress) Agung Laksono said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has made the best decision while solving the Corruption Eradication Commission-National Police (KPK-Polri) conflict.

"I am convinced that the President has thoroughly considered the political, legal, and institutional aspects while making the decision to cancel the inauguration of Comm. Gen. Budi Gunawan as the National Police chief," Agung said here on Wednesday night.

He remarked that with the decision, President Jokowi wanted to end the tension between KPK and Polri as well as other institutions.

"We should express gratitude for the Presidents decision. We hope it will serve as the best way out," he added.

Agung, who was the peoples welfare minister in Susilo Bambang Yudhoyonos government, pointed out that Jokowis decision will best benefit the nation and state.

When asked about a section of Golkar legislators in the House of Representatives (DPR) who wanted Budi Gunawan as Polri chief, Agung revealed that the House Speaker has made a statement that the DPR and Golkar Party respected the Presidents decision.

Agung expressed hope that Golkar lawmakers will not seek an interpellation motion to discuss the Presidents decision.

"If the Presidents decision is good for law enforcement, we should appreciate it," he added.
