Clearly I am the one to suffer."
Tangerang (ANTARA News) - Antasari Azhar sees new hope in his bid to overturn court verdict, which has sent him to jail that could be his death cell.

The former chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was found guilty of murdering Nasrudin, an executive of a state company, by a Jakarta district court that sentenced him to 18 years imprisonment.

Antasari said testimonies by three expert witnesses could help him in his lawsuit against police and Mayada hospital.

The three witnesses pointed to the missing clothes worn by Nasrudin when he was shot at in his car in 2009. The clothes were declared lost by the hospital and police.

"The testimonies by the three experts support the lawsuit, and the disappearance of the clothes was a mistake that cause me to suffer," Antasari said after a Tangerang district court session reviewing the case.

The Constitutional Court approves Antasaris request for review (PK) of the murder case that has named him a convict.

The thee expert witnesses are Edi Lisdiono an expert in civil law, Firman Wijaya , an expert in criminal law and Dr. Y. Sriyono, a medical expert.

The three witnesses said Antasari was the one to suffer as a result of the where about of the clothes not being known.

"Clearly I am the one to suffer. The clothes could have served as an evidence whether there was ammunition or not as this is all only part of a scenario," Antasari, who celebrated his 62nd birthday on Wednesday, said.

Antasaris lawyer Boyamin Saiman said that the testimonies by the three experts have opened the curtain widely.

The first witness said the lawsuit filed by Antasari was legally correct; the second and third witnesses said that the disappearance of the evidence was against the law and a violation of ethical code.

"The testimonies by the three witnesses clearly opened the curtain that all Antasari has done with the lawsuit is legally valid," he said.

Antasari and relatives of Nasrudin filed a suit against Mayapada hospital and Jakarta police using the disappearance of the clothes as a new evidence.

Antasari wanted to prove that he was not involved in the murder of Nasrudin.

The lawsuit demand Rp300 million for material compensation and Rp20 billion for immaterial compensation.

Earlier the Supreme Court turned down his bid for PK after he already failed in his appeal to the Jakarta higher court. The two higher courts confirmed his sentence of 18 years imprisonment.
