Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Deputy House Speaker Taufik Kurniawan read a letter signed by 116 legislators to exercise their interpellation rights to question Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly over accusations of meddling in political parties internal conflicts.

"There is a letter signed by 116 people alleging violation of the law and the governments intervention in political parties conflicts," Kurniawan noted during a plenary meeting of the Parliament, here, Tuesday.

Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah noted that the letter proposing the interpellation rights was first read in the House of Representatives leadership meeting, and thereafter, during the plenary meeting. It will later be discussed in the Houses Consultative Council (Bamus).

The Bamus will decide whether the letter will be discussed in the plenary meeting again to hear the signatories reasons for proposing the interpellation.

If the proposal is accepted, the House will set up a special committee that will begin functioning at the start of the Houses next session, he added.(*)
