... need to explain that this is allegedly linked to the extension of a permit in a location in Kalimantan...
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested a parliamentary member and two other suspects in Bali and Jakarta in connection with an alleged corruption case in the mining sector.

"It is true that a suspect has been caught red-handed at a hotel in Sanur, Bali, at around 6.45 p.m. local time (on Thursday). The arrested suspect is A (Adriansyah) who is a former district head and now a member of the House of Representatives (DPR)," acting KPK Deputy Johan Budi stated during a press conference.

Adriansyah is a politician from the ruling Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI P) from South Kalimantan II electoral region.

"Besides A, the KPK has also arrested AK (Aung Kusniadi) from the same hotel. AK worked as a messenger. The two were believed to be just carrying out a transaction," Budi explained.

The KPK confiscated cash money in the form of Singapore dollars and rupiah bills from them.

"Singapore dollars and rupiah bills were found at the scene. Thousand-denomination Singaporean dollar bills were confiscated, but their value is yet to be confirmed. The KPK investigators also confiscated rupiah bills," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, in Jakarta, the KPK has arrested a businessman.

"At around 6:49 pm local time, a businessman AH (Andrew) was caught in a hotel lobby in Senayan. However, no cash money was recovered from him," Budi noted.

He revealed that all of them are now undergoing intensive interrogation while the status of the three suspects will be decided after the KPK has completed its 24-hour interrogation process.

Budi claimed that the money was linked to the extension of a business permit.

"We need to explain that this is allegedly linked to the extension of a permit in a location in Kalimantan. We cannot as yet speak in detail, but this is connected with a SIUP (a mining permit)," he stated.

Adriansyah was the district head of Tanah Laut for two terms from 2003 to 2008 and 2008 to 2013.

He is now assigned at the House Commission IV overseeing agriculture, forestry, marine resource, fisheries, and food affairs.

Adriansyah was once involved in an alleged bribery case in 2010 when the shareholder of PT Binuang Jaya Mulia operating in coal mining extended Rp3 billion to Adriansyah as a kickback in connection with a mining business belonging to Muhidin.

The mine is located on the border between the districts of Tanah Laut and Tanah Lumbin, and therefore, Muhidin had sought Adriansyah's help for securing the mining permit.

Adriansyah was born on October 7, 1954, and was elected as a parliamentary member for the 2014-2019 period.
