Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Aburizal Bakrie (ARB), the general chairman of the Golkar Party elected in a congress in Bali, expressed hope that the administrative court will issue a ruling to settle the conflict in the party posthaste.

He said here on Monday that he hopes the courts ruling is issued sooner than the target of a week set recently by chief judge Teguh Satya Bhakti, who is dealing with the case.

"As the chief judge said, the ruling will be read out on May 18. But I hope it is read out sooner because the faster it is done, the better. This way, it will be clear who really has the right to lead the party," he stated after attending a session of the court on the partys case.

If the administrative courts ruling is issued expeditiously, he added, it would be possible for the Golkar Party to carry out its agenda and political programs, especially those in connection with the implementation of the first round of the simultaneous elections to elect provincial governors and district heads scheduled to be held on December 9.

"The speedy issuance of the ruling will allow the Golkar Party to participate in the elections in 269 of the total regions in the country on December 9 and start nominating candidates in July," he explained.

ARB further noted that he would accept whatever ruling is issued to settle the conflict of leadership in the party.

"Whatever decision is made, we are ready to accept it and its consequences," he affirmed.

Secretary General of the ARB-led Golkar Party Idrus Marham also emphasized on the importance of the immediate issuance of the verdict because all regional party leaders were awaiting legal certainty.

"A fast issuance of the ruling will prevent confusion and hesitation at regional levels. It is hoped that the ruling is issued this week. Even a day is very precious for us," he remarked.

The Golkar Party, one of the oldest and largest political parties in Indonesia, has been divided into two camps, with the other one led by Agung Laksono.(*)
