• Orders won through a competitive international bidding process
  • Enhance electricity transmission with CG’s turnkey solutions
  • Increases CG’s market share in the utility segment

MUMBAI, India--(Antara/BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avantha Group Company CG has bagged two important orders, one for 8 bays of 138kV, 60Hz, AIS Switchyard in the Philippines for MINERGY Coal Corporation and the other for 30 MVA, 132kV mobile substations for Wellington Turbines, a Venezuelan enterprise. CG, with its successful track record of providing reliable mobile substations and conventional (Gas Insulated Switchgear/Air Insulated Switchgear) substations, secured the orders through a highly competitive international bidding process. The scope of work for both projects includes design, manufacture, supply, construction and installation and commissioning of the substations.

The project in Philippines will be executed by September 2015. It will facilitate power transmission to the Philippines grid through 3 X 55MW coal fired thermal power projects, being installed by MINERGY Coal Corporation. A switching substation or switchyard is used mainly for connections and interconnections and are essential for transmission, distribution, collection and controlling the flow of electricity. It delivers power generated at the power plant to the electrical grid. CG is among the few companies to offer solutions in 60Hz and this will strengthen our presence in that segment. In recent years, the Philippines have emerged as a leading high-growth economy in Southeast Asia. Capacity addition of 13 GW, along with interconnections between different parts of the country, makes Philippines an attractive market.

The mobile substations’ project for Venezuela will facilitate electricity transmission for the floating type oil fired power plant being setup by Wellington Turbines, 100kms from Caracas port. Mobile substations are autonomous systems and are designed by CG as a turnkey solution. They are self-contained units, with CG’s assurance of best-in-class equipment, in-house system integration and custom built solutions. With CG’s short-track delivery of mobile units, these mobile substations will assist in power supply during emergency or planned outages, moving loads and integration of distributed or renewable generation.

In FY 14-15, CG’s Indonesian arm has successfully completed supply of 16 150kV mobile substations to PT PLN, as well as implementing the largest mobile substation in Asia for TNB Malaysia with 132kV, 90 MVA power transformers with midel oil, an eco-friendly component.

Commenting on the strategic wins, Avantha Group Company CG’s CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Laurent Demortier, said: “We have been consistently strengthening our position as a company that provides indigenously built products and turnkey services that reflect global standards, while suiting local conditions. As the energy demand the world over swells, CG with its technology edge is well positioned to cater to the various needs of our customers with solutions that offer higher efficiency, reliability and low life-cycle cost.”
