The joint force comprising 5,094 personnel will be deployed to secure the Takbiran night."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed a joint force comprising 5,094 personnel to secure the "Takbiran" or Lebaran (Eid) night that falls on Thursday night, Jakarta Police Spokesman Senior Commissioner Mohammad Iqbal stated.
"The joint force comprising 5,094 personnel will be deployed to secure the Takbiran night," Iqbal remarked here.
He noted that in order to secure the Lebaran night, the Jakarta police will be supported by personnel from the resort police, the military, the Jakarta regional government, and state-owned toll road operator firm PT Jasa Marga.
The Metro Jaya Police will field 2,899 personnel; 1,750 personnel from the resort police; 100 from the Transportation Service; 455 from the Security and Orderliness Service; 300 from the Security and Order Force; 30 from the Fire Brigade Department; 25 from the Health Service Department; 100 from PT Jasa Marga; and 645 from the Military.
Security officers will be positioned at locations where people congregate to celebrate the Takbiran night. The police have identified 69 locations that will be closely monitored by the security officers in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
The National Police is deploying 82,538 personnel during the 16-day-long "Ketupat Operation," from July 10 to 25, 2015, to secure the Idul Fitri exodus of travelers heading to their hometowns to celebrate the Islamic festivity.
In addition to the police officers, the operation also involves 12,761 military personnel and 50,377 personnel from other related institutions, Chief of the National Police General Badrodin Haiti stated while inspecting a section of in-charge police personnel in a ceremony recently.
The Ketupat Operation involves a total of 145,676 personnel, he added.
They are deployed in 3,030 security posts and 1,083 public service posts set up across the country during the operation.
The operation will secure the exodus routes, Islamic places of worship, settlement areas, terminals, seaports, airports, and tourism sites, among others.
The police will also optimize its intelligence functions to anticipate terror attacks, sabotage incidents, and other serious crimes.
General Badrodin pointed out that the operation is expected to help ensure smooth travel for the holidaymakers and efficient distribution of logistics, particularly staple food items and fuel.
Among those present during the ceremony were Deputy Police Chief Commissioner General Budi Gunawan and Jakarta Governor Basuki T. Purnama.
