Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - The number of visitors to Gembiraloka Zoo in Yogyakarta reached its highest point on Sunday with at least 32 thousand people, according to zoo spokesman Josep Kurniawan.

"The number of visitors reaches its highest point today by about 32 thousand people compared to that on previous days," Josep said here on Sunday.

But he added that the visitors will probably still come to the zoo on Monday because it is still Idul Fitri or Lebaran holiday.

He noted that during the Lebaran holidays this year from July 17 to 26 the total number of visitors to Gembiraloka is predicted to reach 220 thousand people.

"During the same Lebaran period last year 200 thousand people visited this zoo, and this year we are optimistic that the number will rise by 10 percent, or some 220 thousand people," he noted.

Besides having a collection of Komodo dragon, Gembiraloka Zoo also has the collection of snakes, frogs from various countries, turtles, lizards and reptiles.

"Other various animals such as elephants, orangutans, tigers, monkeys, camels, birds, deer, zebra, and hippo are also found in this zoo," Josep said.
