SINGAPORE, July 30, 2015 - (Antara) - Panasonic, an industry leader in rugged, reliable mobile computers since 1996, today announced the launch of its new configuration center. Located in Johor, Malaysia, the Panasonic Toughbook(TM) facility is intended to serve the ASEAN region, focusing on Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines.
With the configuration center having local buffer stock and equipped with implementation support, customers can expect shorter lead times for customized order fulfillment. Within the next few years, the configuration center will also serve as a regional service center; for example, for one-to-one swaps, customers can expect to receive their devices within two working days. End users can also arrange delivery of products that require implementation support, directly to training sites, as well as on specific days.
"The demand of rugged mobile computers - tablets, notebooks and handheld computers - is expected to grow, with strong interest in this region from firms in the defence and retail industries. The launch of the configuration center in Johor serves as a testament to our commitment to the region. Here at Panasonic Toughbook(TM), we are committed to ensuring our processes are optimised and that our customers are able to experience a reduction in the total cost of ownership of their business laptops and handheld devices," said Mr Soh Peng Kiat, General Manager of Toughbook Solutions Team, ASEAN.
Ensuring that customers have the best post-purchase support is important to Panasonic Toughbook(TM). The opening of the facility will ensure that Panasonic Toughbook(TM) maintains an intimate relationship with its customers, understanding their needs and increasing their satisfaction, while enabling further growth opportunities in ASEAN.
This is especially important, considering the growth potential of Southeast Asia. According to VDC Research, the rugged notebook opportunity in Southeast Asia is forecasted to grow to US$48.3 million by 2018, with demand concentrated in emerging markets such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Philippines.
Panasonic Toughbook(TM) recognizes that across their various focus verticals - defense, retail, transport and logistics and manufacturing - there is an increasing demand for employees to be able to work on the go, and to be able to access documents in a seamless, fuss-free manner. Panasonic Toughbook(TM) is committed to being an enabler in enterprise mobility, allowing businesses to empower their workforce and to keep their businesses relevant.
Located within an existing manufacturing plant of Panasonic, the facility is a forty-five minute drive away from Panasonic System Solutions Asia Pacific's ASEAN and ANZ headquarters in Singapore.
