SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 4, 2015 (Antara/PRNewswire) -- On November 11, POSCO E&C (CEO Hwang Tae Hyun) completed the construction of the Beijing POSCO Center in Wangjing, Chaoyang in Beijing, China.

POSCO E&C holds the largest number of construction records for skyscrapers in Korea. It is Korea's leading construction company that built the NEAT Tower, which is the tallest building completed by the company thus far, in Songdo, Incheon. Currently, it is constructing LCT, a 101-story resort complex in Haeundae, Busan.

Wangjing is emerging as an international central business district with many global firms setting foot in the area. These firms include Mercedes Benz, Microsoft and Siemens as well as local IT companies including China' s biggest e-commerce company, Alibaba.

After three years of construction that began in December 2011, the Beijing POSCO Center is now complete with two buildings occupying a site area of 20,000 m2: A Tower with 33 floors and B Tower with 25 floors.

POSCO E&C maximized the energy efficiency of the building by applying an automated air cleaning system, solar lighting system and an auto temperature/humidity control system, as well as an ice thermal storage system that stores cold and heat in the form of ice by operating the refrigerating machine late at night and using air conditioning in the day.

Acknowledged for having such energy efficiency, the Beijing POSCO Center received the "Green Construction Certificate-3 Stars" accolade, the highest level of building environment certification, from the Chinese government in November last year.

The Beijing POSCO Center includes various commercial and convenience facilities that span from the first to third floors, such as a bank, hospital, restaurants, fitness center and meeting rooms. From the fourth floor and above, which will be used as office areas, Korean government agencies and companies will be located, including POSCO Group companies, KOTRA, Export-Import Bank of Korea, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, Gyeongsangbuk-do' s Beijing Representative, and Woori Bank.

"With the hub of Beijing POSCO Center being completed today, POSCO will do our best to evolve as a respected company that grows alongside local communities and communicates with stakeholders," remarked POSCO CEO Kwon Oh Joon at the completion ceremony held on November 11. He expressed gratitude toward those who provided unwavering support that allowed the construction to be successfully completed.

POSCO E&C is now constructing the POSCO IT Center in Dalian, China with seven 40-story apartment buildings and a 27-story studio building, all scheduled to be completed in December 2015.
